The Insurance Professionals of Greater New Orleans

 

Board of Directors: Consists of eight members who meet once a month to discuss and vote on business as directed by the President.

COMMITTEES

 

Each committee has a chairman who is responsible for the duties of the committee and selects members to serve with them. The number if members needed depends on the activity generated by the committee.

 

 

Arrangements: Arrange location, adequate seating and any equipment needed for general meetings and be responsible for accepting reservations. Notifies the general membership through the bulletin: collects reservations and works the sign in table giving out meal tickets.

Assistant Treasurer: Assists the Treasurer with all duties and should be present in her absence.

Audit: Examines the books, accounts and financial records that the treasurer maintains. They shall present their quarterly report to the board and submit a cumulative report at the end of the year for the Board to present to the membership.

Budget: Prepare a budget for the fiscal year and to submit to membership for approval. Immediate Past President always serves as chairman.

Bulletin: Assembles the monthly bulletin for emailing by the computer committee and mails it to the members of the association that do not have email access.

Bylaw/Parliamentarian: Reviews all written proposed changes of the National, Regional, State and local association bylaws and/or Standing Rules and shall present them to the association with recommendations.

Computer: Shall maintain and develop computer and programs. Shall send emails to our members and send updates to our website manager (calendar, monthly bulletin, roster, photos, officers, leaders, budget, bylaws and standing rules, forms and applications).

Education: Shall recommend and supervise educational programs and courses of study in insurance and related subjects. Should also assist members in acquiring their CPIW/CPIM and DAE designations. Should promote NAIW programs.

Finance: Engage in fund raising activities such as 50/50, Super Bowl pool and small gift giveaways.

Historian: Complete a scrapbook of the year’s activities for the presentation to the President.

Host/Courtesy: Greet new members and guests, send appropriate cards and conduct the birthday raffle each month.

Legislative: Keeps the membership appraised of local, state and national legislation affecting the insurance industry.

Liaison to Casualty Surety, CIC, IIAGNO, PIA, LSLA, YIPS, RIMS, CPCU & Mariners: Maintain contact with local industry associations and advise the membership of their activities.

Membership/Organization: Responsible for promoting membership in the association, preparing and maintaining a complete roster, distribute roster to members, present new members to the board, sending new member applications and check to NAIW once approved by the board, send welcome letter to new member, update roster with new member information, order name badge and assign a mentor. Vice President always serves as chairman.

Nominating: Shall nominate one or more candidates for each office to be filled at the annual meeting. They shall report their nominations to the membership. Immediate Past President always serves as chairman.

Personnel: Keeps the membership informed of job opportunities.

Programs: Plans and arranges social functions for the association. President Elect always serves as chairman.

Public Relations: Golf Tournament, Adopt a Family/Home, NAIW Week: To promote good public relations for the internal and external activities of the association.

Publicity: Notify the media of meetings and special events.

Registrar: Maintain attendance records of members and guests at all general membership meetings and furnish a copy to the secretary within 10 days.

Safety: Shall foster Safety Programs.

Telephone: Makes calls as directed by the President.
